I would have to admit to being guilty of this one. I adore the color purple and it looks good on Pumpkin. We tend to use it mostly for everyday riding around the barn to keep his stuff from being filched and used by other riders (most people stick to more normal colors like red/blue/green). But I have definitely used a few minimal placements of color when doing dressage shows. I have a white saddlepad with purple piping which is pretty sedate. I use the rest for parades and fun shows. We have all the things you mentioned plus a ribboned browband and lots of ribbon for his mane and tail. My dad likes to ask me when I'm going to get a mare and stop torturing my poor gelding.
