He was glad that I didn't make him go forward anymore until I figured " this would be a decent posture".

And he was worked before the photo session.
He doesn't stand "correctly" though, but he saw something in the field and so he looks more alert than bored.
How does one get them to stand "nice"? With patience, look and feeling. One can train horses to take a certain posture, but I know from a very good photographer, that horse pictures are one of the most difficult to make cause of the impressions horses display. I believe I made only 4 or 5 in my life, which could withstand a profi's critism.
