I've found several equine rescue organizations in my area. I'm thinking of seeing if there are volunteering opportunities at any of these groups. This would help me learn about and get comfortable with horses plus be helping a wonderful cause. Does anyone have any experience in this? I used to volunteer at a local cat rescue so I thought perhaps this would be a possibility but I'm not sure if they want people who aren't familiar with horses.
