It's like with any new, or more intensive work out-it's going to hurt until you build up the muscles you use for it. For a start, a gentle warm up and stretch before you ride will help so that there is less likelihood of something getting pulled.

Once you are finished, make sure to cool down and stretch again. Above that just keep at it; it gets better.
